History

NRG Controls, Inc. was founded by Tom McClay in 1976 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. As a young and energetic company, NRG Controls quickly became a leader for Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) systems for commercial/industrial, higher education, K-12 education, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and retail clients. NRG Controls expanded its service offerings in 1993 to include ongoing predictive and preventative maintenance on all ATC systems installed by the company.

In 2008, NRG Controls was purchased by the current owners and managing partners, who are taking the company to new levels by expanding NRG Controls’ scope of product and service offerings. In 2009, NRG Controls established the Energy Star Services Division, and most recently partnered with Encelium, Inc. to provide installation and service of complete addressable lighting control systems.

At NRG Controls, we believe in forming lasting partnerships with our clients and always “doing what we say we are going to do.” Our 60-plus employees strive every day to exceed your expectations and ultimately help you reduce your energy costs. We’re the only Building Automation Systems (BAS) provider that still employs our own electrical field force. This is just one more way NRG Controls maintains a high degree of quality control over your project. Furthermore, by not having to subcontract this portion of your project, we can also help you contain costs.

NRG Controls, Inc. serves central Pennsylvania, including Adams, Berks, Centre, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Huntingdon, Lancaster, Lebanon, Mifflin, Perry, and York Counties. For Encelium Lighting Control system installation, NRG Controls is your authorized provider for most of Pennsylvania (does not include greater Philadelphia area and Erie).
